Staff Types

Audience: Transportation admins and staff
Purpose: Define and manage staff roles used for assignment and reporting. While staff types are typically created during implementation, you can create new staff types at any time. 

What Staff Types Control

Staff types are used to:

  • Differentiate drivers, monitors, aides, and other roles
  • Control which staff can be assigned to specific tasks
  • Support filtering and reporting

Steps to add a new Staff Type

  1. Click on the person icon in the top-right of the screen.
  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click General in the toolbar at the top of the page.
  4. Click Add Staff Type or select an existing type to edit.

  5. Click the + button.

  6. Label the Staff Type, then select the appropriate checkboxes.
    • Is driver: Check this box if the staff type is a bus driver. This will make them selectable as a driver within the vehicle record.
    • Users of this staff type can view all routes on the tablet: This only applies if your district is using the SafeDriver360 tablets. If members of this staff type need access to all routes on the tablets, check this box. For example, you may want to check this for a Substitute Driver staff type.
    • Is bus monitor/aide: Selecting this checkbox makes individuals assigned to this staff type selectable within the route details as monitors or aides.
  7. Save changes.

Tips

  • Use clear, consistent role names.
  • Review staff types before bulk assignments.
