Vehicles Overview

Audience: Transportation admins and staff
Purpose: Create and manage vehicle records, assign drivers, define street coverage, manage seating and capacity, and report on vehicle usage.

Overview

The Vehicles section controls how buses and other vehicles are configured and used in EZRouting. Vehicle records connect drivers, seating capacity, street coverage, and routes so students can be automatically assigned and transported safely and efficiently.

Use this section to:

  • Create and maintain vehicle records
  • Assign or change drivers
  • Define streets served by a vehicle
  • Configure seating charts and plans
  • Review vehicle-level reports

What a Vehicle Record Controls

A vehicle record defines:

  • Vehicle identifier and type
  • Assigned driver
  • Seating capacity and layout
  • Streets or street segments served
  • Availability for route assignment

Vehicles are referenced by Routes, Students, and Reports. Accurate vehicle setup is required before assigning routes or running automatic assignments.
