Real-time Notifications

Real-time notifications are used to inform parents, guardians, administrators, drivers, and/or students of current updates. The function can be found under the operation menu.

At the top, you can further filter students to send messages to only those who need it (like students on one particular bus or who go to one particular school). The message can go to the student’s primary contact, all the student’s contacts, the driver, or the school, and can be sent in either email or text. 

Text messages incur a charge for each message sent and have a limit of 1,600 characters.

Files can be attached to the real-time notification via the ‘attach file’ button (email only). Additionally, there are message templates available from the ‘message templates’ button.

To preview an individual student’s message, you can click ‘view’ under the ‘view content’ column of the selected students.
If you are happy with the message to be sent, simply click ‘send’ and the message will be sent out according to your specifications.

  • You can use the Real-Time Notifications feature to send text messages and/or emails to students, parents, and bus drivers. Applying a filter to your list of students will limit who the notification gets sent to, and you can also individually select or deselect students from the list below.

    In the message field, type your message or use one of the provided message templates, and select whether it should be sent as a text, email, or both. The provided message templates include a template for all bus schedules for a student and a template for just today’s bus schedule.

    You can review how your message will look for a particular student before sending it by clicking the View button under View Content for the student you'd like to preview.

    When you're finished writing your message, simply click the Send button.

Q & A

How to check if the notification message is sent out successfully?

Method 1: If the message is shown under the notification history session on the student record, that means it is sent out successfully.

Method 2: If the message is marked with a tick symbol on the text message page, that means the message is sent out successfully.

What does the auditing message mean?

If you are using an email server on your site, you might receive the message below on the auditing page when sending a large number of notifications.

Email server error (to xxxxxx@gmail.com): Invalid login: 454 4.7.0 Too many login attempts, please try again later. f18sm9304803qko.34 - gsmtp

This is because the number of your send is over the send limit of your email server. For example, the Gmail mail server send limit is approximately 100-150 emails per day when connected to the server from a remote email client. You can send 500 emails each day through the Gmail SMTP server when logged into EZRouting.

After you reach out the limit, the real-time notifications will be sent by EZRouting's email server.
